Thank You for Supporting Our Troops

Thank you so much to the more than 4,800 of you who responded to the petition drive I started in support of General Petraeus and our troops' effort in Iraq. With your help, we were able to present this American hero with solid, heartfelt evidence of support for him, his troops, and their mission.
General Petraeus genuinely appreciated the gesture, and wrote the following letter of thanks for your heartfelt support:

Dear Congressman Conaway,
It was a pleasure to receive your note and the disk full of encouraging words for our troopers. On behalf of all the members of Multi-National Force-Iraq, I would like to offer heartfelt thanks to all those who expressed their support and to you and your staff for orchestrating the effort.
As I have said before Congressional committees many times now, nothing is more important to those serving in harm's way than knowing that their hard work and sacrifice are appreciated. It is a privilege to soldier with America's sons and daughters here in Iraq, and I am pleased to be able to share these messages of encouragement with them; such support helps fuel them for the long, tough days.
Again, thank you for coordinating this heartening effort.

Thanks again for taking the time to sign the petition and to spread the word about this successful effort to make sure the troops in Iraq know that, despite the attacks and smears from groups like MoveOn.org and Code Pink, so many in their country really do stand behind them.
Next time your home, come down the road for a barbecue. We would be happy to have you.
..and thank you Congressman. I rarely sign very many petitions, but this was a must; especially when friends are involved.

Sir, even a million "thank yous" is not enough!
Please forgive us if we have not done enough to defend armed forces from the enemies within our homeland.
Your battle is far more dangerous than ours. But you are winning and we seem to be losing here at home.
We will do our best to win against those who denigrade the US soldiers, especially the small ones. We will fight against those who sow poison and lies.
That will be our continuing resolve.
Lastly to soldiers and officers there in Iraq:
I humbly say.... THANK YOU VERY MUCH FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!
He is a true Patriot.
